iPhone 4 is about to settle the arguments down at the pub

So now we have the new iPhone 4. I haven't gone out and bought one, but I have had a little play and well, its definitely going to please its users. Its the gadget to talk about down the pub when you run out of things to say. I think by now we have all encountered the situation where your talking to someone with an iPhone and they go on about how much of a great phone it is. Usually this is the point where the conversation turns sour if you have an Android, Blackberry or any other Smart Phone; Security men usually start calling in other nearby security men to prepare for an outbreak.

So lets push on with what these iPhone users will be gloating about next:

(Some) New iPhone 4 features (Which I consider important to blog about)

Multi Tasking : This is a brilliant addition to the new phone for those extra techie people who care about memory usage and doing a thousand things at once. I must say this is one of those features that's pushing me to the edge of getting one myself. For some people it just one of the "must haves" and the old iPhone couldn't cover this in those pub arguments i mentioned earlier.

Cut, Copy & Paste: Double tap for Cut/Copy/Paste menu all over iOS (sms to email to notes…) - Always nice

5mp Camera with flash and video recording with light. I tend to go for the phones which cant decide if they are more a camera than a phone, I don't know why, i just do and the iPhone4 definitely made it one step closer towards that direction

Screen titled the "Retina display" with 326PPI - Need i say more than that?

Video conferencing camera at the front of the phone. This is a nice addition, however I have had many Nokia's that offered this before and it never really took off. If anyone can do it this time it will probably be Apple with the new iPhone4. Ill put money on it.

Faster CPU and more Memory - goes without saying really.

Bigger Battery can now withstand a full days use of push email and phone calls - very important, used to be a weak point. not any more I guess. Lets hope these ones don't blow up like some of the previous apple products

There is one bad point however, you have a screen made out of glass and the back of it is made of glass (a glass composite resistant to scratches but by no means unbreakable). What was once a 50% chance of shattering/cracking your phone has now become much less of a gamble and instead more of a certainty. When you drop it (which you will before your contract expires) you'll be crunching your teeth before you reach down to pick it up and inspect it. I guess the other bad point is that any young teenagers with knives will also follow you around whilst these are hot on the market.

There are many many new features that are improvements in the iPhone4 which I haven't mentioned compared to the 3GS, but if you want to know some of the ones which tickle my fancy to finally make that switch away from my Blackberry to the iPhone in a pub fight, they are the ones above. To be honest, when I played with the iPhone4, it was still the iPhone1 - a great polished product, out of the box, amazing to use and pretty. It really is just the same old iPhone with some nice newer bits of hardware and some lovely software tweaks to appease the fussy tech types that just have to have certain things like 5mp cameras and multi tasking abilities. The iPhone has pretty much won the fight now.

In next weeks blog I will be returning to my n97 tweaks, your going to need them if you fancy a drink down at your local pub.
